Our client is a looking to engage a suitable qualified person to support its ongoing track maintenance program between picturesque Queenstown and Strahan . This role is "hands-On" reports directly to the Rail Operations Manager. The successful applicant will be part of a small autonomous team looking to maintain infrastructure to minimise risk to your team, crews, passengers and rolling stock on this iconic heritage railway. Applicants will need to have proven rail experience and be able to demonstrate an ability to:

  • Provide hands on leadership to the infrastructure team
  • Comply with Safety Management Systems, Australian Standards, National Rail Safety Laws and all WCWR policies and procedures
  • Ensure the ongoing safety, performance and viability of civil infrastructure by identifying key risks.
  • Maintain records pertaining to maintenance in accordance with the relevant standards.
  • Minimise and mitigate risk while maintaining the guest experience.
  • Liaise with the Rail Operations Manager regarding the work programs required to conduct maintenance.
  • Knowledge of point work, level crossings, ballast operations, bridges, lineside vegetation management, drainage in accordance with all relevant rail regulations, legislation, instructions and procedures.
  • Experience in track geometry, track profiles and certification, rail welding and testing.
  • Train and mentor track maintenance workers.

The ideal applicants will have a Cert III in Rail Infrastructure, Hi-Rail Ticket and First Aid qualifications.
