Network Growth Portfolio

The Network Growth Portfolio (NGP) coordinates and facilitates the work required by Sydney Trains in the introduction of new and altered infrastructure and fleet into the Sydney Trains and NSW Trains Networks.

Transport for NSW delivers the Network upgrades through programs of work. Sydney Trains supports the works enabling successful implementation of the programs and being business ready to operate and maintain the modified Network once the works are commissioned.

The Opportunity

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the management of large scale complex multiple projects within a program of work delivered by Sydney Trains as part of a larger Transport for NSW program.

The role ensures best practice processes are provided in the delivery of safe, successful and compliant programs on time, on budget, to specified scope and quality outcomes in line with the business readiness to operate and maintain a reliable and efficient passenger train services.

Other key accountabilities include:

  • Model good leadership to inspire direction and delivery, including leading direct and indirect reports and SMEs, to ensure programs and projects delivery, and enable program outputs
  • Determine project schedule and activities throughout the project lifecycle, and manage implementation of project plan to meet scope, time, cost, quality and safety requirements
  • Develop and implement strategies and tools for the continuous monitoring and evaluation of projects, including risk and contingency management, benefits realisation, and project impact and quality measures, to identify and address issues and assess project progress and overall effectiveness
  • Manage stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to ensure stakeholders are engaged throughout the project and project deliverables are met.

About you

You’re a seasoned Project Manager with demonstrated ability in delivering projects on time and on budget within the Rail, Transport or Infrastructure sectors. You love working with new technologies and you’re passionate about changing and improving the operational landscape for Sydney Trains.

Your recent experience has focussed on interface management, construction and commissioning staging works in a live railway environment, and you have previous experience in delivering an operational integration system.

You’re adept at managing stakeholder relationships, negotiating and influencing great outcomes for the business and delivering impactful results. You have mastered presenting complex information in a simple, digestible way, ensuring a common understanding amongst your stakeholders.

Leadership is second nature to you, and you have the ability to inspire others and take them on the journey with you. Change management is also a strength, and you’re motivated by problem solving in a fluid environment.

The ideal candidate will have an Advanced Diploma of Project Management or equivalent demonstrated experience and ability in delivering program assurance readiness and integration activities.
