The opportunity
Right now, we have an opportunity for a Director Network Access Coordination leading the coordination of access to the expanding transport network, effectively assessing and determining requests for road or lane closures (State Roads and Motorways) as well as coordinating with transport operators to minimize the impact of planned rail possessions (Sydney Trains, Sydney Metro and Light Rail) across the network. In addition the role will partner with Local Government on planned local road closures to ensure the network scale cumulative impact of planned works is understood and managed in a manner that minimises impact on customers’ end-to-end journeys whilst allowing works to be effectively undertaken.


What you will be involved in:

  • Lead the effective coordination of access to the transport network, assessing and determining requests for road or lane closures (including State Roads and Motorways), and coordinating with transport operators for planned rail possessions (including Sydney Trains, Sydney Metro and Light Rail) to ensure infrastructure and works projects can be undertaken in a timely and cost efficient manner and disruption to services is minimised.
  • Lead the development of effective partnerships with Local Government to ensure a coordinated approach for planned local road closures so that the network scale cumulative impact of all planned works is understood and managed in a manner that minimises impact on customer end-to-end journeys whilst allowing works to be effectively undertaken.
  • Represent the business unit as the senior interface on all congestion related projects being developed and delivered by Sydney Roads - Easing Sydney’s Congestion program office.
  • Ensure operational policies, practices and procedures designed to reduce congestion are created and maintain incorporated into day to day operations of the TMC.
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with all major stakeholders that need to disrupt the transport network in order to undertake works, ensuring competing demands are reconciled, overall network priority is assigned and satisfactory outcomes are achieved.
  • Develop and manage input into branch and/or division business plans, budgets and risk management plans consistent with the TfNSW Corporate Plan.
  • Act as a thought leader, remaining abreast of current and emerging planning issues and trends, including domestic and international best practice, innovative approaches and opportunities to support the achievements of the business objectives.
  • Apply Transport aspirational culture, five ways of leading and values united in the delivery of integrated planning frameworks and associated plans aligned with TfNSW business strategy, and Government goals.


About you

  • Enthusiastic and passionate about what you do, strong stakeholder skills, you keep your finger on the pulse when negotiating with key stakeholders to agree change, implementation and adoption to the program.
  • Have thorough knowledge and understanding of the statutory and regulatory framework that underpins quality regulatory services.
  • Substantial understanding and experience in the service delivery of integrated and large multi modal urban public transport operations

  • Tertiary qualification with relevant business or technology discipline or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.
  • Possess a valid Australian motor vehicle driver’s license and be willing to work outside regular working hours and travel on occasion.
