About The Team

The position works within the Western Sydney Project Office in the Sydney Project Delivery branch of Infrastructure and Place. Focusing and building delivery expertise to guide projects from design to construction to operations safely, efficiently, sustainably and to high quality.

The opportunity

The role is accountable for the efficient and cost effective development and delivery of the Mulgoa Road Stage 1 project using the Transport Alliance model of delivery that satisfies the project objectives and provides whole of life value

Working at Director level in the Project Office, the role leads, drives and manages the successful development and delivery of the project. The initial focus is on building a strong team for procurement and establishment of the project alliance with industry partners. The Project Director will then be representing TfNSW as a senior member of the Alliance Management Team (AMT) and is responsible through to handover and finalization of the project.

The Project Director will be responsible for managing competing pressures between project scope, performance, cost, program, quality and risk while meeting stakeholder expectations and longer-term community needs in an environment of intense public scrutiny.

About You

You are a tertiary qualified, seasoned, major projects delivery professional looking for an opportunity to build a world class delivery function:

  • You will have demonstrated executive leadership experience building and leading diverse teams.
  • You bring strong experience working under an alliance contract model.
  • You are an influencer.
  • You will have demonstrated technical ability in delivering major, high profile projects of $100m+.
  • You will possess strong commercial acumen, delivering on time and to budget.
  • Ensure that all required environmental impact statements and assessments are undertaken to ensure that projects meet all statutory requirements and deliver sustainable outcomes.
  • Build effective relationships and partnerships to ensure stakeholders expectations are met and lead the development and implementation of strategies to ensure community engagement and to provide project transparency with an opportunity for feedback.
  • You will bring experience managing competing and complex demands to ensure timely delivery of projects considering quality, cost efficiencies and timeframes and assessing variations while resolving conflicts and priorities.
  • You will understand the balance of addressing customer requirements whilst adhering to other regulatory, policy, government and operational conditions.
  • You have the ability to articulate complex concepts and put forward compelling arguments and rationales to all levels and types of audiences.
  • You bring experience identifying and overcoming barriers to collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • You bring strong experience creating a culture of achievement, fostering on-time and on-budget quality outcomes.
  • You champion a customer-centric ethos.
