About MRPV

Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) is responsible for delivering a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of key road projects across Victoria, including new roads, road widenings, new bridges and major freeway upgrades. MRPV manages complex and strategically important road projects from business case development through to construction and prides itself on connecting local communities and supporting Victoria's growing economy.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will provide a valued contribution to significant transport infrastructure projects across Melbourne, from planning through to delivery. You will lead a team responsible who will develop and oversee project activities, ranging from planning activities, procurement, and then construction. You will also be a leader on the strategic direction of the organisation and build effective stakeholder relationships. As an integral member of this fast paced team, you will be responsible for key aspects of project activities which include project scoping, feasibility, design and development, procurement, delivery and commissioning, within specific project scope, time and budget.

This is a fixed term position for 3 years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a multidisciplinary team, including consultants and contractors to achieve project objectives
  • Ensure that the management of safety is paramount and implements sector best practice processes and procedures
  • Contribute to all stages of the development and delivery of complex major infrastructure projects to time, cost and quality requirements, including the development of scope and assessment of feasibility and options
  • Ensure effective tendering and management of works contracts, monitoring and reporting of contractor progress and negotiating with third parties on contract matters
  • Provide advice and recommendations to senior management on issues arising from and impacting the project, including the identification and mitigation of project risks
  • Build strong relationships and competently collaborate and negotiate with the stakeholders, including project team members, contractors, consultants and multiple government and statutory bodies to ensure work is prioritised and delivered in accordance with the designated scope

About you

  • Extensive project management expertise acquired in delivering major infrastructure or engineering projects with the road and/or rail sector
  • Demonstrated ability to direct and influence multi-disciplinary teams, consultants, and contractors to deliver critical project objectives
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and reporting skills, particularly as they pertain to project risk
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to listen, motivate and support a team to deliver on project objectives
  • A leader who places safety above all project objectives, ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with organisational and regulatory policies and procedures
  • A relevant qualification in an Engineering or Commercial discipline
