The team

As part of Transport for NSW, our Maritime team is responsible for managing over 2,137km of coastline and 32,242km2 of navigable waterways. We’re passionate about working with the community to make sure that our waterways are safe, accessible and sustainable for generations to come.

The opportunity

The Maritime Infrastructure Delivery Office (MIDO) is a joint initiative between Transport for NSW and the Department of Industry (DoI) to improve the coordination and delivery of coastal and boating infrastructure programs and projects across NSW that support recreational boating, fishing, tourism and a range of other commercial activities.

The Manager Programs is responsible for the effective administration of the Transport for NSW maritime infrastructure and dredging grants program and other maritime related projects. The role will also work to ensure individual projects meet acceptable engineering design, cost, environmental and user requirements and are completed within agreed timeframes and budgets.

What You Will Be Involved In

  • Manage the maritime infrastructure program and other projects to ensure the program meets the objectives of Transport for NSW, the Government and the community.
  • Deliver tasks and projects that demonstrate a thorough understanding and application of best practice project management principles to achieve client satisfaction targets and provide excellent client service in relation to the repair or upgrade of maritime infrastructure and associated land under the management of Transport for NSW.
  • Participate in the assessment of applications for funding, including providing engineering advice and recommending state-wide priorities.
  • Preparation and finalisation of high-quality documents, including briefs, call and analyse tenders and manage consultancies related to coastal infrastructure.
  • Monitor and undertake inspections of proposed projects, work in progress and completed works, as appropriate to ensure compliance with funding conditions.
  • Provide specialist technical advice to support the ongoing partnership with local government, other authorities and local communities in respect of maritime infrastructure projects.
This small, specialist team are inclusive and welcoming and will provide you with a flexible workplace to support genuine work-life balance. The role can be based in Rozelle or Wollongong (we are currently working remotely). The role will require occasional travel to locations around various parts of New South Wales to attend site inspections and meetings.

About You

You have tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualifications permitting Corporate Membership of the Institute of Engineers, Australia. You will also be able to demonstrate experience in the delivery of maritime infrastructure projects and grants management and knowledge of port engineering, coastal processes and dredging works. The ideal applicant will have experience in the preparation of contract documents/ tenders, managing consultancies, providing supervision/technical certification of works and quality assurance inspections on projects.

You have an operational approach, and are driven to deliver on a commitment to support the maintenance of a safe environment for waterway users.

Possessing a combination of strong stakeholder management, collaboration and communication skills you will work with TfNSW’s regional operations and compliance teams, delivery partners and other stakeholders to support the delivery of the projects and programs and to increase awareness and understanding of these programs.

Salary And Benefits

The salary for this position is MA15 ($135,546) per annum plus superannuation.
