Transport Infrastructure Project Manager

Vivendi Consulting - Sydney, NSW

Executive & Strategic Management
Source: uWorkin

JOB DESCRIPTION

Vivendi Consulting is a consulting firm specialising in complex decision support, data analytics and program and project delivery.

We are a trusted advisor to a range of clients with a strong record of delivery for clients, predominantly in the public sector but also in the private sector.

We successfully helped our clients deliver a number of high profile, high value strategies and programs for clients including Transport for NSW, Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, Create NSW, Infrastructure Australia working as a client-side advisor and delivery partner.

We are a strongly values-driven organisation. Our values are:

  • Integrity and honesty: we do the right thing, clients’ needs as paramount
  • Collaboration: we enjoy working closely with each other and our clients as a single, integrated team
  • Sense of humour: we take our work seriously but not ourselves
  • A sense of adventure: recognising that we each determine our own professional journey.

Who we’re looking for

We have seen a strong increase in the number of projects in the pipeline, particularly program and project management in the transport infrastructure (road, rail, active transport) space, continuing work we've done in this area for the last 10 years.

We are looking for talented, passionate people. We value talent, commitment, EQ and ability to communicate clearly as much as IQ and ‘hard’ skills and experience.

While we’re recruiting for all levels, we’re particularly interested in junior- to mid-level grades. We are looking for full time employees, but would consider offering contract roles on some projects.

Your background will be:

  • Demonstration of consistently successful project management delivery on challenging and complex projects in the transport infrastrutcure sector.
  • Ability to work in an integrated client-consultant team in a highly collaborative manner.
  • Ideally at least 3 years' experience working for a recognised consulting organisation.
  • Experience of providing 'hands on' projct management support - delivering outputs to time and cost.
  • Familiarity with, or experience of delivering business cases or inputs to business cases.
  • ‘Hands on’ ability to produce high quality deliverables under time pressure.
  • Willingness to own deliverables, while seeking and including feedback from others, as part of a collaborative team and process.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Taking your work importantly but not yourself.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree
  • PRINCE2 / MSP / PMI or other program / project management qualifications.

What you will do

Manage major transport infrastructure (and sometimes non-infrastruture) projects. This includes

  1. Developing and implementing Project Management Plans
  2. Setting up and running a risk and issue management system
  3. Scheduling and schedule management, including familarity with current project management tools and software
  4. Cost and resource planning
  5. Project controls
  6. Project governance establishment and support
  7. Setup and deliver workshops with key stakeholders
  8. Supporting senior client management in making complex decisions

  • You will deliver major infrastructure projects that will have an effect on our cities for generations to come.
  • Work effectively with a variety of stakeholders from across different agencies and organisations
  • Support and run structured workshops with key stakeholder groups to gain focused input, and clarify and resolve key questions

We work in a flexible manner, to best meet client requirements. Your work is likely to be mainly at home, with some work occasionally at client premises or other off-site offices.

Before you apply, we would like to be clear that we work in a very different way to the 'Big Firm' management consulting companies:

  • All of our consultants, regardless of seniority, are hands-on and able to deliver high-quality output.
  • We only employ experienced consultants. Typically our most junior staff have at least 3 years in a recognised consulting practice.
  • We usually work in small teams of 2-4 consultants, closely integrated with client teams. Teamwork, collaboration and client knowledge transfer – whilst still holding accountability for client outcomes – are essential.
  • We don't follow a 'land and expand' model when delivering for clients, but conversely seek to always understay our welcome. We believe this is a matter of professional service integrity, and helps clients build a genuinely trusting relationship with us.
  • We genuinely believe in and live by our values. Our recruitment criteria are heavily influenced by whether there is a values 'fit' with candidates.
  • Every member of the firm is closely involved in its development. We demand not only high quality client service but also your input to our future direction. We hold a number of 'offsite' days a year to collectively take a step back, plan and learn – and everyone's full engagement is essential.

We genuinely enjoy each others' company, and believe that having fun and taking your work seriously but not yourself is a pre-requisite.

If you meet these stringent criteria – in terms of both values and professional experience - we would love to hear from you.
