JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a high performing Cyber Security Adviser to join our Information and Digital Management team based in our Brisbane CBD office in a full time permanent position. We are looking for someone with a proven track record in delivering positive security outcomes, bringing new insights into threat and risk assessments and continuously improving our cyber security risk management practices.

Reporting to the Manager ICT Security, the purpose of this position is to effectively identify and manage cyber security threats and risks across all Queensland Rail business areas, and to ensure appropriate security standards are maintained by implementing, monitoring and maintaining processes and controls to continuously improve cyber security practices.

To be considered for this role you will need a strong background in ICT cyber security, preferably within a large complex organisation. A Bachelor’s degree in IT or Cyber Security complimented by 3 to 5 years relevant industry experience and qualifications (e.g. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)) would be highly advantageous.

What we are looking for:

  • Extensive knowledge of IT Security principles, strategies and standards used in Australia and how they are implemented within a technical environment.
  • High level of skill in conducting cyber security threat and risk assessments and managing the implementation of security assurance programs.
  • High level of skill in evaluating and assuring the effectiveness of security controls against threats and risks and prioritising security control gaps.
  • High level of skill in making decisions and exercising independent judgment for instance when reviewing and facilitating exemptions.
  • High level of stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, including strong verbal, written communication skills and ability to influence existing work practices and senior technology managers.
  • Unrestricted work rights in Australia (Australian Permanent Residency/Citizenship).
  • Experience implementing, maintaining or auditing an Information Security Management System (ISMS)


Desirable requirements:

  • A detailed understanding of cyber security risks in OT systems and safety related control systems
  • A high level of skill on assessing cloud security risks and designing controls
  • Experience in a security consulting role


Position Description

Starting salary: $132,469 + superannuation
