JOB DESCRIPTION

For our rail business, we are seeking an experienced Senior Safety Assurance Engineer who will be working for a large rollingstock project in Perth, Western Australia.

The overall project is to change the concept of operations for a miners rail supply chain. It will involve the delivery of an integrated Rail Management System (RMS) and implement new and enhanced signalling, train control system and automate the railway network at the mines, port and on the main line.

Key Requirements, Tasks and Deliverables:

· Conduct Engineering Safety activities which includes, but are not limited to Qualitative & Quantitative Safety Risk Analysis and Assessment and associated safety requirements identification and management through Verification and Validation; 

· Ensure project Engineering Safety Management activities and relevant contractual requirements are satisfied and comply with applicable regulations and standards on major transport infrastructure projects;

· Support the development and maintenance Engineering Safety processes and procedures;

· Manages assigned project activities of medium complexity for the safety analysis and assessment requirements for new projects, including compliance with technical, time, safety requirements and applicable Standards;

· Interface with Project Designers during the initial development and subsequent verification and validation of safety requirements derived through the safety analysis and assessment activities;

· Performs Review of System Engineering documentation to ensure adherence to applicable codes of practice, guidelines, safety standards and industry standards;

· Has in-depth professional knowledge in railway safety critical systems, safety engineering, safety integrity levels and safety assurance requirements.

· Manage the development and administration of system safety requirements within the Requirements Management tool and coordination of system safety requirements related information to/from that tool;

· Perform RAM Analysis to ensure that any specified RAM targets on systems or subsystems can be achieved by a project design and then demonstrated in the constructed asset, where this relates to system safety aspects;

· Provides support in the system safety engineering aspects for the development, review and approval of tender documents and analysis and recommendation on tender submissions

· Understanding of statutory compliance requirements, in particular of Occupational Health & Safety, Work Health and Safety and Rail Safety National Law (WA) Act 2015.



Qualifications

Bachelor in Engineering



Additional Information

· 7+ years of experience in safety assurance and RSNL compliance (manage HL's, facilitate workshops, FMECA, FTAs, construct SFAIRP justification for SAR's, GSN, etc)

· Systems Engineering and Requirements management for rail projects

· Very good understanding of engineering processes and tools

· Very good working experience in an international environment

· Visionary thinking and able to implement strategy initiatives in his/her domain of expertise

· Understand interface and impact with other technical domains

· Rigor, autonomy and works well in a team working

· Proactive behaviour, sense of anticipation and urgency

· High degree of integrity and ability to make decisions required by the role’s responsibility.

· Previous experience in the railway industry is a highly desirable asset.
