The role:

The Head of MTP People Readiness, leads a high performing team of planning and transport operational expert professionals to develop, monitor and implement people readiness for Metro Tunnel Project (MTP). Reporting to the General Manager for Operations Readiness, this position will be responsible for incorporating the resource planning and training requirements for the Metro Tunnel Project into the overall business resource profile for station and rail operations while facilitating and managing the business as usual (BAU) resource governance process. The role also oversees operational integration and interface responsibilities between project teams and the operating business.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop, monitor and implement a Metro Tunnel People Readiness Plan to ensure a large station staff and rail operations workforce are recruited, trained and ready for the opening of the new tunnel with High Capacity Signalling enabled trains in operation.
• Lead briefing of all key senior stakeholders within MTM and external clients.
• Lead a team for the development and implement new training strategies, delivery plans and competency management plans for the station and rail operations.
• Lead a team to interface between project and operational teams to resolve conflicting priorities and ensure good outcomes are delivered.
• Provide strategic advice to General Manager Operations Readiness, MTM Finance and relevant stakeholders, with regard to resource planning and training, for annual budget preparation and planning.
• Coach, mentor, develop and engage team members.

Your skills and experience:

• Tertiary qualification in relevant field (Transport, Technology, Business) OR significant relevant experience
• Significant management experience of teams
• Knowledge and experience working with Franchise agreements and terms
• Strong engaging and influencing abilities
• Experience managing departmental budgets and plans

You are described as both tenacious and diplomatic by your peers. You are a strong leader who effectively communicates your vision to your team. You enjoy the challenge of working on strategy in an ever changing, live operational environment. A unique knowledge of how strategic decisions impact how we run our trains equip you to minimise impact on BAU. You understand the importance of balancing stakeholder expectations and needs with the necessity of meeting project requirements and do not shy away of, at times, challenging conversations.
