Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions. We work with several government agencies to coordinate road, rail, bus and maritime services, always keeping the safety and comfort of our customers at the heart of what we do.


The opportunity

There is a full time permanent Project Officer role available within CSSPO on the Parramatta Light Rail Project. The role may report to the Deputy Project Manager, Project Manager or to the Program Director, depending on the size and scope of the project.


Your responsibilities may include:


  • Live the NSW Public Sector and organisational values to achieve outstanding outcomes for the organisation and customers.
  • Providing a range of project management and support services, including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation and implementing and monitoring project plans, to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope, in line with established agency project management methodology
  • Preparing and maintaining project documentation for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes to ensure accessibility of quality information and contribute to the achievement of project outcomes
  • Communicating with key stakeholders and coordinate working groups, committees and consultations to facilitate exchange of information and support project completion in line with project plans
  • Sourcing, collating and compiling data and information to identify emerging issues and track and report on project progress against established milestones and deliverables
  • Undertake research and analysis, identifying trends and preparing project briefs, to support informed decision-making and planning
  • Support operational integration planning activities on a day-to-day basis and as directed, working as part of an integrated Project Team(s).
  • Support the preparation and development of Project Plans, which will typically include: Project Management plans, cost and program plans, day-in-the-life planning; process and adjustment’s; asset handover arrangements; and other plans; as required by the project team
  • Support the development of the operational integration lessons learned register for continuous improvement and knowledge transfer.
  • Be a project conduit to the Central and Southern Sydney Project Office - Executive Director Office
  • Be well versed across all aspects of project management, including cost, project schedule, risks and budget, as well attending project update meetings to support the Project Director delivering on their reporting requirements


About you


To be successful, you will have a tertiary qualification in Business, Project Management and/or proven experience in a similar role and be able to demonstrate the ability to deal with a diverse range of complex matters and highly conceptual issues to enable the completion of projects in the required timeframes. You will have strong problem solving skills, be self-directed in your approach to tasks and able to tackle a wide range of issues and challenges. You will have demonstrated experience managing multiple tasks in a time sensitive environment with strong communication and interpersonal skills. You will have the ability to work independently and contribute effectively in a collaborative team environment whilst maintaining a high level of work ethic.


Salary and Benefits


The salary for this position is Transport Service Grade 7 ($101,429 - $113,601), depending on level of experience, per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
