The Division

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.

The Opportunity

Right now, we have an opportunity for a Project Officer to join the Community and Place (C&P) team. This position is located at Newcastle. The Project Officer role is responsible for performing day-to-day project management, operational and administrative activities to support project specifics and meet team objectives in regards to Work Authorisation Deeds. This includes developing and managing efficient project and administrative systems and processes to support effective time management and liaison on behalf of team members and ensure co-ordination of briefs and reports.


Some of your key accountabilities will include:

  • Provide project and operational support, including monitoring and reporting on project plans, milestones, and deliverables, to ensure time, cost and quality indicators are in line with approved project plans.
  • Communicate with relevant stakeholders to provide updates regarding project status and implementation issues
  • Work cooperatively and demonstrate a continuous improvement and growth mind-set by contributing and testing ideas for improving work practices, collaborating with internal and external business areas, to achieve objectives and work outcomes.

About you

The successful candidate will have relevant tertiary qualifications and/or proven experience in a similar role and be able to demonstrate the ability to deal with a diverse range of complex matters and highly conceptual issues to enable the completion of projects in the required timeframes.

You will have exceptional customer service skills coupled with strong problem solving skills, be self-directed in your approach to tasks and able to tackle a wide range of issues and challenges. You will have demonstrated experience managing multiple tasks in a time sensitive environment with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

You will be able to work independently and contribute effectively in a collaborative team environment whilst maintaining a high level of work ethic.


Salary and Benefits


The salary for this position is RMS USS 8 ($102,098 –$109,561) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
