JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Surveillance Manager, this role performs surveillance and auditing of all site investigations, transport infrastructure construction and maintenance work across assigned projects.

About MRPV

Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) was established to deliver a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of key road projects across Victoria, including new roads, road widenings, new bridges and major freeway upgrades. MRPV manages complex and strategically important road projects from business case development through to completion connecting local communities and supporting Victoria's growing economy.

The Role

Reporting to the Surveillance Manager, this role performs surveillance and auditing of all site investigations, transport infrastructure construction and maintenance work across assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development, coordination, planning and implementation of risk-based site surveillance across multiple projects within a program of projects at MRPV.
  • Responsible for maintaining positive relationships with Technical, Engineering, Planning and Engagement Advisors and contractor's construction teams, proactively resolving issues as they arise, including attendance and providing input into coordination meetings
  • Exercise judgement in the delivery of construction activities including service relocations, earthworks, pavements, drainage, surfacing, traffic management, traffic signals and bridgeworks according to project scope, in accordance with MRPV policies, standards, specifications and guidelines
  • Apply competence in the planning and execution of all risk-based surveillance activities in the practical application of construction, ensuring high quality documentation is maintained.
  • Assist in the development of innovative responses to construction and traffic management problems
  • Negotiate positively with contractors and internal and external stakeholders with aim of influencing successful outcomes.
  • Provide advice on OH&S, quality and environmental systems including contributing to the development of changes to policies and procedures
  • Educate and advise field based and engineering staff regarding on-site construction and surveillance activities.

About you

  • Understanding of contract documentation including specifications, drawings and standards associated with major road construction projects.
  • Experience performing surveillance activities on large road and rail construction projects
  • Understand safe working practices, including traffic management, in order to review contractor OH&S procedures and recommend improvements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build, manage and influence effective relationships with contractors and internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development of, and changes to, policies and guidelines to enhance work processes and practices.

Additionally, you will have experience in surveillance and supervision of construction works or related fields, you will also have relevant experience in road maintenance/construction surveillance, and hold a current and valid driver licence
