The Shire of Victoria Plains currently has a vacancy for a Works Manager to join their team and contribute to the Council’s strategic plans for the area. The position will be based in Calingiri. Situated 153 kms north-east of Perth. Our advantage lies in our close proximity to Perth, central location to regional hubs, schools, access to main roads, rail lines, electricity and an abundance of water.
As Works Manager you will provide both strategic and operational direction across all major projects and works programs, with a focus on road construction and maintenance, parks and gardens, waste management and business wide asset management. Applicants will possess the following attributes:

Previous experience in relevant Senior Management roles;
A relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or equivalent;
Demonstrated success in delivering complex works programs whilst overcoming challenges in order to meet organisational objectives;
A high level of business and financial acumen;
The ability to manage resources and budgets with a high degree of control and autonomy whilst operating within a constantly changing environment;
Excellent communication skills to deal with a diverse range of staff and stakeholders to resolve conflict, build relationships and clearly communicate objectives and requirements;
Ability to make decisions based on professional judgment in complex and sometimes ambiguous environments;
Extensive technical and practical civil engineering experience in the construction, maintenance and management of public infrastructure;
High level performance in managing programs, projects and financial management;
A strong commitment to maintaining working relationships with employees, and internal and external stakeholders;
Local Government experience is highly desirable.
