About the project:
The Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) will leave a legacy to Melbourne’s rail infrastructure by improving safety, reducing congestion and enabling more frequent train services with the elimination of 75 level crossings across metropolitan Melbourne, in addition to upgrading or constructing more than 27 train stations, laying many kilometres of new track and making associated rail improvements.

We require a People Alliance Partner to support our project teams as part of Western Program Alliance (WPA).

About the role:
This fast paced project requires a dynamic People Alliance Partner to support the size & complexity of an alliance based program. In this role, you will be accountable for providing HR support to MTM alliance based staff and play a pivotal role in building a strong HR partnership with key stakeholders.

The WPA office is located in Footscray, where you will be primarily based & is also in very close proximity to public transport. This role will also require you to travel to the LXRP project office in Melbourne's CBD when required, as well as to the site project offices from time to time.

This role is initially offered on a 12 month max term contract with a view to longer term opportunities for the right candidate. As a Metro employee you will receive free-public transport travel along the network.

  • Provide a single interface between the alliance team and the Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) business when it comes to employee related decisions
  • Full ownership of MTM On-boarding, Employee Relations, Performance Management and Development requirements.
  • Manage internal mobilisation within the alliance and support effective internal mobility of employees from one alliance to another across the portfolio, feeding into the overall Workforce Planning process
  • Act as the interface between the alliance and the Talent Acquisition team
  • Enhance employee connectivity back to MTM , employee engagement, talent development and retention
  • Pastoral care for MTM employees on the alliance
  • Coaching managers and employees Performance Improvement Plans, interpersonal and people leadership capabilities
  • Collaborating with and draw support from other areas within the People function, both locally on alliance and back of house in MTM
  • Providing operational advice, coaching, consultancy and guidance to people across the assigned business area
  • Actively participating in leadership meetings, workshops and forums as required
  • Resolving employee queries, concerns and grievances expediently and to a high standard
  • Support the delivery of alliance and MTM People KPIs and targets
  • Supporting the provision of analytics on people trends and metrics, maintaining up to date awareness of all relevant employment law, and best practice in org design, change management and business partnering
  • Supporting the implementation of people systems
  • Be an advocate and champion for MTM values
Ideally you will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or relevant discipline
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of HR experience within projects or Alliance based organisations; rail or civil project experience will be highly regarded
  • Demonstrated project management capability
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills
  • High level of effective interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
  • A solution oriented and business acumen driven approach with customers
  • Extensive experience, knowledge and understanding of Human Resources issues and policies
  • Human Resource Generalist knowledge and applied practices
  • Ability to work autonomously in a complex and changing work environment
  • Aptitude for working collaboratively, building and managing stakeholder relationships
