NEWest Alliance is a multidisciplinary collaboration between CPB Contractors and Downer, working with the Public Transport Authority to deliver two projects (Yanchep Rail Extension and Thornlie-Cockburn Link) as part of METRONET.

As a Services Manager in the Utilities Team for Downer based in our Bibra Lake office, you will be assigned a number of key responsibilities to manage within our company which will have a direct impact on our business. We need people who are motivated, talented and who have a strong work ethic that drives them to succeed. Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include your ability to confidently and efficiently -

  • Keeping abreast of governance and regulatory obligations and interpreting them for the design concept
  • Promoting quality awareness and sound practices on site in accordance with company quality policies and requirements
  • Assisting in the conduct of regular design compliance checks and audits and reporting breaches
  • Monitoring and reporting on the progress of appropriate corrective actions
  • Supporting the implementation of corrective and preventive strategies
  • Managing the budget of the Design Program and optimising resources to meet cost constraints
  • Preparing monthly reports on time and with accurate information representative of design project progress, forecasts and costs
  • Ensuring appropriate work allocation to achieve objectives
  • Managing systems and processes to enable timely and accurate design documentation
  • Create a supportive culture that encourages innovation and improvement, and a team that embraces change
  • Lead and develop an effective and productive team, including managing the work performance of self and team members, and developing alignment between team capability and the functions business objectives
  • Participate in recruitment activities to build a high performing team and a diverse and inclusive culture
  • Ensure an engaged and high performing team through initiatives such as individual performance development reviews, career conversations and career development, succession planning and remuneration reviews


About You
  • 10 - 15 years of relevant experience in a senior role
  • Robust understanding of relevant legislation
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and manage time and workload
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to build a high performing team that delivers excellence
  • Detailed knowledge and demonstrated high level experience in project management, planning, budgeting, and cost control
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • Effective interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to interpret and apply contracts
  • Demonstrated high level decision making, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve conflict in a high stress environment
  • Demonstrated high level analytical thinking and problem solving skills
