About the Role

ORA prides itself on its supreme customer service and commitment to safety and is looking for likeminded candidates to fill the Trainee Locomotive Driver roles.

ORA will support you through and provide you with all the training you need to become a fully Qualified Locomotive Driver. Upon completion of your training contract, which will take approximately 2 1/2 - 3 years, you will be able to operate a locomotive and provide operational support to ensure the safe and efficient working of short haul train movements throughout the region.

About You

ORA is looking for candidates with various backgrounds who want to build an exciting and rewarding career as a Locomotive Driver. Previous industry experience is not a requirement of this role however, it is essential that you are able to demonstrate the following:

Sound mechanical aptitude
Above average numeracy and literacy skills
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot challenges as they arise
Proven ability to maintain high levels of concentration for long periods of time
Dedicated commitment to safety including working within stringent safety protocols and procedures at all times
Ability to work a 24/7 roster including night shifts, weekends and public holidays
The ability to work as part of a team and the rail community
Hold an unrestricted motor vehicle licence

As part of ORA’s recruitment and selection process, short listed applicants will be required to:

Successfully complete literacy, numeracy, mechanical comprehension and concentration testing
Provide a recent national criminal history check
Successfully complete a Category 1 pre-employment health assessment
