About the role

This role is responsible for the overall management of Journey Beyond Rail guest service procedures and operational functions for The Ghan at Alice Springs and Darwin Terminals, including but not limited to terminal maintenance, guest experience, rail operations and housekeeping.

You will be responsible for managing the guest flow of service and help to provide a high standard of guest experience for all arrivals and departure services at Alice Springs. These services include concierge, luggage check-in and collection (in class order), Platinum Priority Services, Vehicle check-in service, mobility assistance/ guest people mover and guest private transfers/ taxi requirements.

In conjunction with the train managers ensure guest departure experiences from beverage service to entertainment are in place for all services. This is coupled with overseeing all terminal staff to ensure the highest quality standards of carriage cleaning procedures are adhered to.

The is role is also responsible for the management of financial budgets for the operation of Alice Springs terminal, the provision of monthly reports and tracking variances of any track delayed train arrivals and or departures and financial impacts.

About you

You would have a background in front line management with a minimum of 3 years’ experience and understand property and general maintenance practices. Your excellent customer-service skills and ability to read situations and deal with them accordingly is reflected in your problem solving and leadership skills. Running on time and to a schedule is critical to your success as is the ability to work calmly under pressure of competing demands to a tight timetable.

It is likely you would have a good understanding of risk management principles; experienced in safe-working systems and procedures; able to learn auditing and investigative techniques; can instruct others in safety related matters.

Attention to details and outstanding communication skills have been demonstrated thru your experience in being able to relate well at various organizational levels, particularly with front line staff. You are a practical, hands-on leader who always maintains the business objectives and direction.
