The Division

Major Works is the major brownfield construction hub at Sydney Trains. Providing Engineering and Maintenance work across the Sydney Trains Network. There are over 1000 staff in the directorate which operate in a fast paced multi-disciplinary project environment.


The opportunity


Right now, we have an opportunity for a Program Planner for Signalling and Control Systems (Engineering Discipline) to join our Major Works Division (MWD) in the Engineering and Maintenance Directorate within Sydney Trains. The role is responsible for supporting the Program Planning Manager Systems in the development of project deliverables for Major Periodic Maintenance Rail Systems projects as part of the Sydney Trains Annual Works Program.


What you will be involved in:


  • Managing project planning activities including the development of system requirements, scopes, schedules, detailed cost estimates, resource requirements & risk registers.
  • Coordinating the transition and communication of plans to Program or Project Managers within MWD for subsequent project delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of coordinated project plans for major deliverables across the network.

About you


Drawing on your experience working across transport Infrastructure projects in a large and complex organisation, you have a strong background in the planning and delivery of complex rail systems projects, preferably in brownfield, multi stakeholder and dynamic construction environments. You will be an effective communicator and have a proven ability to engage with a broad range of stakeholder’s.


To succeed in this role, you’ll also need Tertiary qualifications in Project Management or Engineering (in a relevant discipline) or demonstrated equivalent experience in Project Management, planning and delivering complex projects of a multi-disciplined nature (i.e., track, civil, signalling/control systems or electrical) preferably in the construction or rail industry.

Salary and Benefits


The salary for this position is a RC 7 Level A $143,555 – Level E $157,945 per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
