The Operational Investigations & Improvement Specialist is responsible for supporting the Operational Investigations & Competency Manager and Senior Operational Investigations Specialist (Human Factors) in undertaking level-2 rail safety investigations root-cause analysis. This includes running and/or coordinating Principal Driver Specialists and supporting countermeasure evaluation through short controlled experiments, trials or pilots.
Your responsibilities include but will not be limited to;
• Perform investigation tasks coordinated by the Senior Operational Investigation Specialist
• Collect and structure data for analysis
• Conduct root-cause analysis of level-2 safety breaches using analytical, observational and/or stakeholder facilitation techniques
• Prepare investigation reports and communications
• Conduct or co-conduct interviews, site/scene/train observations and review evidence including video, photos, and signal plans
About you
To ensure success in this position you will possess the following;
• Hold a current TTSA (Train Track Safety Awareness) certification
• Have completed ICAM training (essential)
• Ability to objectively and professionally observe, test, question, and provide feedback
• Strong relationship skills and the ability to build and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders to deliver on business objectives.
• Capable of effectively utilising competency standards, making sound judgements, and where appropriate escalating issues
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff
• Effective time management and organisational skills
