The Roles

We are currently seeking candidates to fill two separate roles within our Northam region. They are the On Train Passenger Assistant position, and the Senior Customer Service Officer (Northam office). Both of these vacancies sit within the Transwa Division and require a high-level delivery of quality customer service.

As the Passenger Assistant, you will be required to work on board the Avonlink, Merredinlink and Prospector trains to provide all passengers with a safe and comfortable experience. In this role, you will welcome passengers on board and provide excellent customer service, work inside the buffet selling refreshments (cash handling) and ensure that on board facilities, equipment and amenities are kept in a clean and operational condition. Any concerns or defects will need to be promptly recorded and reported so that they can be dealt with in an efficient and effective manner. The Passenger Assistants are required to work 32 hours per week (4 x 8 hour shifts) on a rotating 7 day week roster between the approximate hours of 6am – 11pm. This is a wages position and attracts a wage of $867.50 per week plus allowances and 9.5% superannuation.

The Senior Customer Service Officer is an ideal position for an enthusiastic customer service professional who will undertake rail and road coach travel reservations, ticketing and refund applications. The incumbent will provide information services to customers both over the counter and by telephone and will resolve routine and more complex customer complaints. The Northam office is open 5 days per week; however, Transwa operates 364 days per year, so you will be required to work additional weekend and public holiday shifts as required. This is a salaried position and attracts a salary between $64,941 and $76,631 pro rata pa plus 9.5% superannuation.

To be considered for either of these roles you will need to have a considerable understanding of contemporary customer service techniques; good communication and interpersonal skills; sound numerical skills and the ability to prioritise tasks, and cope with competing demands. 

There is currently one permanent part-time vacancy for 64 hours per fortnight for the Passenger Assistant and one permanent part-time vacancy for 65 hours per fortnight for the Senior Customer Service Officer position.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool for 12 months from which permanent or fixed term appointments with possibility of extension and/or permanency will be made.
