Construction, Architecture & Interior Design
Source: uWorkin

Role: Senior Contract and Commercial Consultant

Location: Perth, Australia (Remote)

Contract: Contract-to-Permanent

Pay: Competitive Day-Rate / Salary

Growth: Route to Associate Director and future equity participation

About the Company:

IC&R is a contract and commercial advisory firm based in Perth, providing services to large contractors across the energy, renewables, construction, and infrastructure sectors in Australia.

Our small team operate as a trusted business partner to executive, contract and commercial teams – delivering high-quality claims consultancy, expert determination and advisory services.

Our services span from early engagements, in-house training and pre-emptive ‘dispute avoidance’ actions, through to claims consultancy, expert witness, adjudications and other resolutions support. We work with management throughout the project life cycle; from early ‘pre-construction’ engagements helping shape collaborative contracts, through to post-construction settlements.

Established 2017, we are building a small, high-impact team to support our clients, and we’re now keen to add a talented, personable Senior Consultant to help us drive the business forward with prospective new clients.

The Team:

We’re a small, experienced and highly motivated team with good complement of skills. We either work on-site with our clients, from our office (in Perth) or remotely (from home) depending on what the situation requires. The new hire would have one direct report (to the MD).

The Role:

The Senior Consultant will be expected and required to:

  • Be well versed in quantity surveying basics such as commercial management, contract practice, quantification & costing and contracts administration
  • Understand the client-contractor dynamics in Mining, Oil & Gas, Rail, Construction and Infrastructure sectors (experience preferred but good understanding essential).
  • Have a minimum of ten years working on a variety of projects
  • Have strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Have well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Have relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Have effective problem-solving techniques and skills

Key Requirements (Personal):

  • Capable and Confident
  • Positive outlook, good energy and tempo
  • Articulate and well-presented
  • A solutions-based approach to life

Key Requirements (Professional):

  • Working towards or already obtained MAIQS or MRICS (Advantageous)
  • Min. 10 years’ experience on a variety of projects (Preferred, but not Essential)

Target Hire:

Our next hire is a really important step for us; enabling us to build a core capability and representing our firm with existing and prospective clients. We’re looking for someone that can meaningfully add their expertise, professionalism and personality to contribute to and help shape the culture of our business.

Some knowledge of West Australian energy, renewables, construction and infrastructure sectors will be helpful but it’s not essential. Personality and character are much more important to us.

The role might suit someone who has ambitions to have a greater impact and take a more entrepreneurial role in a growing business. Someone who sees themselves having a genuinely more entrepreneurial impact in near future. Ideally, someone with experience of Australian energy and construction sectors ($10m+ Settlements) and an interest in the changing landscape for renewables. Someone who rigorously maintains compliance. A good communicator, with initiative, ambition, vision and a good tempo.

The Prospects:

We’re grounded but optimistic for the months and years ahead. We have long-term clients with whom we have superb existing relationships, and we are well positioned to win interesting, diverse and exciting engagements going forward. As a result, we are looking to add all the essential skills and capabilities through a handful of high-impact hires, taking all the necessary steps to grow our boutique consultancy, into the dispute management advisor of choice. If the role and the growth journey sounds appealing to you, please feel free to send a CV and a short note about how you might be able to contribute.
