JOB DESCRIPTION

Suburban Rail Loop is a city and state-shaping project that will transform Victoria’s public transport system, connecting Melbourne’s suburbs and creating opportunities in great places. The 90-kilometre Suburban Rail Loop will link every major rail line from the Frankston line to the Werribee line, via the airport, better connecting Victorians to jobs, retail, education, health services and each other. The project will trigger investment and renewal in the neighbourhoods associated with new stations. It will be constructed in stages across several decades, with Stage One (Cheltenham to Box Hill) delivering twin 27 km tunnels. This is a unique career opportunity to join a transformational city-shaping infrastructure project in its early stages and to help drive the best connectivity, liveability and productivity outcomes for Melbourne.

The Principal Engineer, Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) is a subject matter expert role within the project's Engineering team, providing expert technical leadership across all MEP systems, ensuring MEP systems objectives are achieved for The Suburban Rail Loop. This role will provide subject matter expertise on tunnel and station ventilation, LV power, fire detection and suppression systems, and other station building services. Working closely within a multi-disciplinary team environment, the Principal Engineer, MEP will be the primary source of specialist technical MEP related advice. Working with multiple stakeholders, this role will consult with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders influencing key project decisions.

You will be a highly focused and driven person who is passionate about contributing to the delivery of public infrastructure, working within a high-performing project team to drive exceptional outcomes. You will be a qualified mechanical or electrical engineer or qualified in a similar discipline with experience working within large rail projects.
