The Project

NEWest Alliance is a multidisciplinary collaboration between CPB Contractors and Downer, working with the Public Transport Authority to deliver two projects (Yanchep Rail Extension and Thornlie-Cockburn Link) as part of METRONET. 

Your Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced communications professional for the Yanchep Rail Extension project on METRONET. This is a permanent full-time position working for Australia’s largest construction contractor. This is an opportunity to be a part of an experienced and supportive communications team and the chance to work on an iconic major infrastructure project.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing appropriate communication tools (e.g. presentation material, newsletters, updates, social media) to deliver key messages effectively
  • Producing tactical communication plans to keep community informed of project milestones and to mitigate stakeholder concerns
  • Identifying target audiences, analysing needs and issues and developing tailored message content, particularly in relation to community and stakeholder concerns
  • Consulting with the project team to identify and anticipate community concerns and reporting key findings and trends
  • Developing and maintaining a collaborative and effective relationship with the client

Our minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, media or similar
  • Minimum of 5 years of Communications and / or Stakeholder Relations experience managing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Extensive experience developing and delivering targeted communications to promote key messages, including via digital channels
  • Strong client focus and excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence
  • Experience in problem solving, preferably resolving complaints and enquiries
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong conflict management skills

Preferred but not essential:

  • Photography experience and Photoshop skills
  • Graphic design and InDesign skills
  • Experience preparing media statements
  • Construction industry experience
