About the Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Vessel Master to join the team on a casual basis! This position is central to ensuring our guests experience is an adventure and is responsible for the complete operation and safety of the vessel whilst at sea.

The successful candidate will, through relevant procedures, be responsible to maintain the safe mechanical operation of vessels ensuring all repairs are conducted safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Management and safe operation of the vessel;
  • Delivery of leadership and guidance to the crew enabling their professional motivation and growth within their role;
  • Overseeing the delivery of exceptional guest experiences on product;
  • Maintaining a safety management system and completing the necessary documentation;
  • Conducting risk assessments and introducing practical safety measures;
  • Compliance of all vessel, training and permit requirements on-board; and
  • Maintaining all vessel records to the appropriate standard (logs, maintenance etc.).

About You


You will be a confident individual with excellent communication to engage our guests ensuring an excellent guest experience, as well as being a highly organised manager who provides leadership and direction to all crew team members. You will be a have extensive experience with high-speed vessels, commercial vessel management and proven experience managing a product within the Marine Tourism industry.

Requirements

  • Minimum Master V / MED 2 qualification with Master IV (>35m) / MED 1 highly regarded
  • Possess a current Radio Operator, First Aid Certificate, RSA and Covid Safe Dining In Certificate
  • Be highly self-motivated, with great energy - A real multi-tasker!
  • Strong people management with the ability to provide positive direction and management of crew
  • Have exceptional teamwork and leadership skills, with a great eye for detail
  • Demonstrate excellent personal presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage time and have strong organisational skills
  • Ability to comprehend inclement weather procedures (i.e. Cyclones) and understand weather forecasts
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills with customer service resolution skill
  • Impeccable personal integrity
