The Opportunity

The focus of this role will be to support the development of skills and experience in systems engineering in military aerospace and rail industry within our Australian operation. This will include support of business development activities, delivery of systems engineering and technology management support and advice, as well as liaison with appropriate professional bodies.

The person in this role will be expected to help to develop the skills of Australian employees, drawing on their recent experience and understanding of the military aerospace domain and the fast jet / air combat subdomain in particular.

As a Consultant, you can expect to be involved in all phases of the Systems Engineering Lifecycle, including working closely with our clients to develop their operational concepts and derive their needs, and specifying the requirements to satisfy those needs. We are looking for smart, adaptable engineers and consultants that are able and willing to apply their skills across multiple domains.

Main Responsibilities

  • To perform systems engineering and commercial consultancy work in support of the design, development, manufacture, maintenance, and modification of engineering projects, with a particular focus on military aerospace and rail domains. 
  • To act as a consultant in Frazer-Nash’s Australian Business and in doing so, to represent the company in work with clients, supporting delivery of major projects.
  • To provide engineering consultancy advice on the effective design and operation of equipment, machinery and systems, and associated acquisition and engineering management systems.
  • To manage and oversee the delivery of work as tasked by Frazer-Nash, with a focus on systems engineering, model-based systems engineering, requirements capture and systems architecture. 
  • To assist in the development of proposals for future work and manage client relationships.
  • To oversee the financial and commercial aspects of assigned projects.

Requirements

If you have the following, we want to hear from you:

  • Bachelor of Engineering/Science Degree or higher.
  • Experienced Systems Engineering Practitioner with demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of Systems Engineering.
  • Aerospace Engineer with a minimum 4 years’ experience in military fast jets (F35, Typhoon, F/A 18 or similar).
  • At least 2 years’ major rail project experience (major systems/infrastructure).
  • Consultancy experience in a defence or major program of works environment.
  • Excellent client management/stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, and experience of direct client liaison and managing a wide range of stakeholder groups.
  • Highly developed skills within Microsoft Office365, including Dynamics and SharePoint.
  • Chartered status with Engineers Australia
  • Hold a current or reinstatable government approved security clearance.

Salary

$100 - $110 k
