This organisation are a world leading connectivity company and specialist for products for the 3 industrial lifelines data, signal and power. They develop, manufacture and sell the world's most durable and reliable products and solutions for use in the fields of machinery, plant engineering, mining equipment, factory automation, railways, power generation and distribution as well as industrial electronics and telecommunication.

In Australia, the office was inaugurated in November 2008 in Melbourne - since then they have grown and expanded significantly. Their ANZ customer base comprises of companies out of various industrial markets including railway, mining, automation, machinery, energy, marine and telecommunication.

Reporting directly to the Business Manager Australia, the successful Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing new business opportunities whilst maintaining existing key clients across a variety of industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing new business opportunities through market research and networking
  • Utilising technical knowledge to specify and sell the product solution
  • Project manage (internally and externally) and coordinate key customer projects across ANZ
  • Represent the group at industry associations and events
  • Monitor, communicate and regularly report on competitor activity within markets and customers
  • Assist in developing a long-term strategy and vision for the VIC and SA markets
  • Coordination of technical support for distribution agents in conjunction with the Product Managers
  • Demonstrates convincing technical and commercial arguments when negotiating contracts with customers; support successful design-ins by technical arguments and USP product features - not just price

Key Skills and Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Communications Technology or Mechatronics
  • 5+ years B2B sales experience ideally within Machinery, Robotics, Material Handling, Rail, Energy, Automation
  • Understanding of electrical and electronic connectors, device terminations, network components and cable harnesses
  • A solutions-based sales approach with an ability to influence a variety of stakeholders
  • Excellent communications skills and a passion for sales and business development
  • Understanding of sales targets, revenue, budgeting and forecasting
  • Ability to travel across Australia and Internationally occasionally
