As the operator of Yarra Trams, we bring our international expertise to Melbourne to ensure we deliver safer, more reliable passenger services and performance, while increasing the value of the tram network for Melburnians and the thousands of visitors to our city every day.
To support this, Yarra Trams requires the services of an experienced project manager to scope, plan and execute all aspects of Facilities project work.
What the role entails
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Manager to deliver transparent and planned coordination of requests for Facilities work and projects.
Reporting to the Manager, Facilities the role involves:

  • Developing and delivering facilities-based projects, renewal activities, heritage works and commercial building projects within a rail operations environment
  • Utilising the Project Prioritisation Process (PPP) to facilitate and orchestrate all project works for the Facilities team;
  • Ensuring efficient programming of project delivery for all Facilities Franchise Infrastructure Management Plan (FIMP) projects;
  • Working with Facilities Asset Owners to forecast projects for efficient use of resources and contractors;
  • Carry out effective resource scheduling and planning to ensure optimum use of day labour and contract resources to meet the current and future target programs and costs;
  • Facilitating the delegation of project works to other Infrastructure teams for coordination and management;
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports;
  • Ensuring consistent and effective communication with all internal customers;
  • Overseeing the effective running of the Facilities Service Desk and service levels provided to the business;
  • Management of CAPEX project management services;
  • Delivering projects on time, within requestor stipulated budget and according to agreed schedule;
  • Provision of reporting on the performance of contracts and contractors.

What you will need for this role
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience and extensive knowledge in commercial and heritage building, including regulation, standards and codes;
  • Project management, project documentation, leadership and engineering experience;
  • Experience in delivering and managing multiple priorities simultaneously;
  • Understanding of relevant regulation and legalisation regarding commercial building management, EPA, Heritage and vehicle management;
  • Experience in triaging, scoping and planning work;
  • Experience using Maximo in a maintenance environment;
  • Ability to manage a diverse range of renewal and CAPEX projects;
  • Strong written and verbal communication;
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office;
  • Strong capability in preparing cost estimates for maintenance projects.
