The Coordinator, Safety reports to the Manager, Minor Projects Victoria and provides HSE ((Health &) Safety and Environmental , with a focus on safety) advice, support and direction to our Minor Works Victoria project delivery teams on all HSE related matters.

You will facilitate a culture of Occupational Health and Safety vigilance, accountability, ownership, awareness and leadership across the workplace.

  • Advise our Engineers on and assist them with the preparation of “Work Package” construction documentation
  • Approve all Project SWMS;
  • Assist, develop, or review and approve all Hi Risk activities proposed 
  • Review subcontractor Health & Safety policies and procedures and ensure compliance under statutory guidelines;
  • Ensure site compliance both visual and audible of all registered permits on site as issued by the
  • Company, Client, Service Providers, Regulatory Bodies and or third parties;
  • Review all Health & Safety incidents, monitor investigations and provide recommendations of each investigations to the Victorian Manager;
  • Identify, assist, and immediately report any Rail Safety Incident to the National Rail Safety Manager and Victorian Manager;
  • Co-ordinate and maintain inspection registers, audits schedules, and compliance registers;
  • Participate in site inspections, audits, and Safety Management System reviews;
  • Perform Safety System and OH&S Audits/Inspection including subcontractors and suppliers where require; and
  • Undertake and perform mandatory inspections as specified in the Construction Management Plan.

Desired Qualifications and Experience 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experienced working directly on a rail or infrastructure project
  • Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety, or similar
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (highly desirable but not essential)
  • First Aid (Level 2), ensuring this certificate is current at all times
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in safety and compliance
  • Experience in implementing Safety training programs
  •  Construction Induction Training (CIT/’White Card’, formerly a ‘Red Card’)
  • Must be a Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen
  • Current Driver Licence
