JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently looking for an Operations Manager to support the successful delivery of what will be one of the most iconic projects in Melbourne, the highly anticipated Melbourne Airport Rail (MAR) Project!



The MAR Operations & Maintenance team plays a critical role in transforming MTM to deliver and integrate Melbourne's First passenger train service to the Melbourne Airport and ensure a world class passenger experience for all visitor and residents.





About the role



The Operations Manager represents the interests of MTM (as the Operator), and works closely with key stakeholders to review and influence the airport rail line design, ensuring the final integrated design and working procedures improve safety, operability, timetable performance and customer experience.


This is a full-time permanent role, primarily based in Melbourne's CBD.




Key Areas of Responsibility

* Support Rail Projects Victoria (RPV) and their partners to develop the MAR Project Operating Plan, System Requirements Specification (SRS) and Technical Solutions to form an integrated design and operating model for successful Day 1 operations.
* Support MTM's Project Delivery Team with operational advice and inputs to provide support during the procurement process, including review of contract documents such as Project Scope and Technical Requirements (PS&TR).
* Support the development of the MAR Integrated Program through contribution and/or development of key operation readiness inputs such as Operational Readiness Plan, Test & Commissioning Strategy, Trial Running and Trial Operations Strategy, and Handover Strategy.
* Responsible for the development of line wide Trial Running and the Trial Operations Strategy and Plan.
* Influence corridor and rail system design and functionality, through a solid understanding rail operations including system interfaces.
* Support the development of changes to the Functional Operational Requirements and operational readiness plan, including tools for monitoring progress, escalation and ensuring global best practice
* Build and sustain lasting relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders to help promote a collaborative and open ‘one team' culture.





About You

* You will have extensive experience working on complex rail projects, preferably including the management of station teams within a metro operator.
* Tertiary qualification in either Engineering, Rail Operations, Change Management or, Project Management related disciplines.
* Experience managing Network Reconfiguration Projects in a railway environment, with a strong preference for CBTC systems.
* Experience in development, implementation and/or operation of the working timetable.
* Ability to understand the outcomes of RAM modelling in an operational context including network performance.
* Commercial acumen & demonstrated experience in applying contractual terms, project documentation and tendering bid process.
* Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
* A passion for coaching and influencing outcomes.
