Reporting into the Business Improvement Manager you will partner with the senior leadership team to deliver strategic initiatives and support transformation and continuous improvement projects within the BULK business unit. You will lead a small team and act as the interface between the technical expertise, which you will thoroughly understand and be able to interpret and communicate this to a variety of leadership audiences in a non-technical manner.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the identification, prioritisation and implementation of improvement activities utilising Aurizon’s specified change and continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, project and product management when interpreting business needs and translating these into operational requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate the review and reporting of initiative progress to senior management and stakeholders and ensure ongoing alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Taking accountability, managing and delivering ideas from inception to delivery and completion, in an environment that requires robust metrics to confirm success.
  • Develop, improve and manage modelling and process frameworks which will allow comprehensive analysis and monitoring to be conducted
  • Provide expert advice to stakeholders and leaders and provide recommendations on commercial operational improvements.
  • Assist with the development of contracts, business cases, reports and presentation for the broader business
  • Provide expert support through training and development activities within the team to increase capability and competence.

About you: 

  • You will be a specialist in business systems and technology with a Project Management OR Consultancy background
  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management (preferred)
  • Minimum accredited Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, preferably Black Belt
  • Minimum 5-7 years proven continuous improvement analytical experience from a similar role, including project management and business analysis
  • You have a strong, transformational leadership style and have led a small team of technical experts
  • You will be highly analytical and possess conceptual, interpretative and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability in compiling meaningful reports and presentations which are suitable for a variety of audiences with the appropriate level of technicality
  • Demonstrated experience of business partnering with senior leadership and executive management
  • Ability to negotiate, consult and display strong relationship management skills that include executing a variety of strategies to influence stakeholders
  • Planning and organisational skills to assist in managing competing priorities.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
