JOB DESCRIPTION

The purpose of the position is to work closely with the Director - Environment and Approvals and Executive Director – Planning and Economic Development to deliver internal and external reporting requirements and ensure that compliance reporting aligns with relevant project approvals and legislative requirements. The position will provide a high volume systems, compliance and reporting support function to each of the separate work packages associated with the Cross River Rail project. The position reports to the Director – Environment and Approvals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse environmental compliance performance against the project approval and legislative requirements and prepare regular reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor the environmental performance of the project against the imposed conditions from the Coordinator General and advise upper management of compliance risks, trends and overseeing the close out of environmental actions.
  • Be the custodian of environmental legislation updates and track and analyse changes to environmental legislation that may influence the project.
  • Coordinate environmental assurance audits and inspection program as required, while coordinating CRRDA environmental investigations to close out.
  • Track and analyse breaches of standards and environmental non-compliances and manage the follow up required,
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with managers, supervisors and staff across the organisation, ensuring that all parties have a clear agreement and understanding of their respective roles and accountabilities with respects to environmental performance and reporting.
  • Develop relationships with a range of external organisations, professional networks, contractor environmental representatives and consultants, and other local government authorities to keep abreast of developments in environmental management.
  • Ensure that all relevant environmental documentation within the CRRDA system is maintained in accordance with the document management system requirements .
  • Ensure the environmental risk and action registers are monitored, reviewed and reported.
  • Representing the CRRDA as required in internal and external meetings with key stakeholders
Key competencies
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following key competencies:
  • Ability to analyse environmental compliance related information and prepare regular reports and trending.
  • Ability to monitor, review and interpret environmental data
  • Strong report writing, analytical and communication skills.
  • Whilst not mandatory, tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
  • At least 5 years experience in monitoring or managing the environmental performance in large infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation and application to infrastructure delivery
